Do GOOD and Have FUN!

My Rotary Club (see the Rotary International tab on this site) recently participated in a drive to send school supplies to kids in Afghanistan.  The whole thing started when a certain Corporate Farrell was serving in Iraq and asked his father (a Rotarian from Denver) to help him gather supplies for the kids he was meeting in Iraq.

That project was such a success that Corporate Farrell decided to continue gathering supplies even after his deployment was over and he returned home to Colorado.   Now he's working with a buddy of his who is currently stationed in Afghanistan and it was a REAL pleasure to be able to help someone so directly and in such a fun way!

If you have anything like this that you've been involved in, please post your ideas here.    Great things happen when people work together as a team.    More later ......

Wild Ride!

What a wild ride the past 24 hours have been.   I've been struggling for some time with the feeling that technology was leaving me behind and now here I am with the beginnings of a website and my first post to my first blog.  This girl hasn't even had a Facebook or Twitter account!!!
Yesterday morning I got up thinking that I just had to start somewhere, anywhere to get an online presence.  Why not with my own name?   A quick domain search on GoDaddy showed that SusanneKarch.com was still available, so Voila!   I bought it!!!!

That was a big enough deal by itself, but what was I going to do with it?   Thanks to my friend George Kao (see Favorite People button on my site), I knew that Weebly.com was a free website editor and I figured, what the heck?  I'll see how far I get before getting frustrated and giving up.

But no!   It was one of the easiest and intuitive things I've ever done.   In under 2 hours I had chosen a design, created several pages, uploaded pictures and added live links and even added a bit of "content".    Who said Menopausal Women can't become Techno-Crats overnight?   Try it yourself.   Bet you'll be just as proud of yourself as I am of myself.   Today a website.  Tomorrow Mt. Everest?   Who knows ..............
